Student killed in love triangle involving teacher
Police in Arizona say a high school student having an affair with his 48-year-old math teacher was stabbed to death after the woman's 20-year-old boyfriend found them together in her bedroom.
Officers in Chandler said Tuesday that Sixto Balbuena found his girlfriend naked and the 18-year-old student in his boxer shorts in the woman's bedroom early Friday.
Police say Balbuena told them he kicked and punched Samuel Valdivia after Valdivia apologized to him.
A police probable cause statement says Balbuena told them he "wanted to teach the victim a lesson," and stabbed him in the side with a kitchen knife.
Valdivia died at a hospital.

As drought forces families in the West to shorten their showers and let their lawns turn brown, two Depression-era government programs have been paying some of the nation's biggest farms hundreds of millions of dollars to grow water-thirsty crops in what was once desert.

Yacht executive pleads guilty in UBS tax case
A yacht company executive has pleaded guilty in Florida to filing a false tax return in another case arising from a broad federal investigation into Swiss bank UBS AG.
Robert Moran entered the plea Tuesday in Fort Lauderdale federal court, the same day the charges were unsealed. Moran faces up to three years in prison and $250,000 in fines when sentenced June 26.

US soldier says he saw Sgt. chase, shoot comrade
An Army sergeant, his face lit by the muzzle flash of his rifle, chased a superior officer at their base in Iraq until he fell, then stood over the man and fired two shots into him, a soldier in their unit testified Tuesday.
Staff Sgt. John Dresel was the first U.S. soldier to testify that he witnessed Sgt. Joseph Bozicevich shoot a fellow soldier during Bozicevich's Article 32 hearing, which entered its second day Tuesday.

Clinton says North Korea reacted unnecessarily
Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton is criticizing North Korea for its decision to restart its nuclear reactor and to boycott international disarmament talks.
In brief remarks Tuesday to reporters at the State Department, Clinton said North Korea's reaction to a U.N. Security Council statement condemning the North's recent missile launch was unnecessary. Her words were a bit more measured than those from the White House, which cited the North for what it called "provocative threats."
