Mills considering challenge on McCartney divorce gag: lawyer
Paul McCartney's estranged wife Heather Mills is considering trying to get the gagging order lifted on court transcripts from their divorce battle, her lawyer said Tuesday.

Meredith Suspects To Stay In Jail
All three suspects in the murder of British student Meredith Kercher are to remain behind bars, a judge has ruled.

American university student Amanda Knox, her Italian ex-boyfriend, Raffaele Sollecito and Ivory Coast national Rudy Hermann Guede have all had their request for release refused.
It leaves the three without any further scope for appeal and they will now have to wait - probably until November - to find out if charges will be brought.

Probe begins into Martin's expenses
Commons Speaker Michael Martin is to face a sleaze probe over claims that his wife spent more than £4,000 of public money on taxis for shopping trips.

Westminster's Commissioner for Standards, John Lyon, has launched a preliminary investigation after accepting that the spending "may not have been in accordance with the Code of Conduct for Members of Parliament".

Plans to cut troops in Iraq on hold
Plans to withdraw 1,500 British troops from Iraq have been put on hold as fighting continued between Iraqi government forces and Shiite militias in Basra.

Defence Secretary Des Browne told MPs that it was "prudent" to "pause" the planned drawdown of British forces which had been expected to see troop numbers fall from their current level of around 4,000 to 2,500.

Parents Horrified By Corpse Images
Meredith Kercher's parents are said to be shocked and distressed after pictures of their daughter's bloodied corpse were shown on Italian television.

Rome-based journalist Nick Pisa said scientific footage showing the 21-year-old's body was broadcast last night as part of a documentary on the murder made by a small station in the south of Italy.

Children find severed head
The severed head and hand of a woman have been found by children playing on a beach in Scotland.

Tayside Police said the head was in a plastic bag when the youngsters made the grim discovery in Arbroath, Angus.

The body parts were found by two young sisters who immediately went home and told their mother, who contacted police.
