Boy, One, Dies In Dog Attack In Wakefield, West Yorkshire
A one-year-old boy has died after being attacked by a dog at a relative's home in Wakefield.
The child was in the yard of the property when the family pet, a Rottweiler, launched the attack.
The boy was taken to Pinderfields General Hospital with serious injuries but later died.
A post-mortem examination will take place today.

British Medical Assocation Says Early prison release Puts Public At Risk
The public is being put at risk from drug addicts and mentally ill offenders released from prison without treatment, doctors leaders have warned.
According to the British Medical Association (BMA), a year of "political failure" has left people vulnerable to the effects of an inadequate system.
Prison doctors who are members of the BMA have called for a raft of new measures to tackle the growing problems.

British explorer breaks 'Three Poles' record: newspaper
A British explorer has broken the speed record for reaching the North and South Poles and the summit of Mount Everest, The Daily Telegraph newspaper reported Saturday.
Adrian Hayes, who lives in Dubai, slashed five months off the "Three Poles" record, completing the feat in just over 19 months.
He reached the South Pole on Friday, unassisted and unsupported, 47 days after setting off across Antarctica from Hercules Inlet.

Ethnic violence flares in Kenya over poll delay
Opposition supporters lit fires, looted shops and blocked roads in a west Kenyan city on Saturday, while rival ethnic groups faced off in a Nairobi slum in violence sparked by delays in election results.
The trouble flared in Kisumu, the main town in opposition heartland Nyanza, and the Kibera slum, that is also a hotbed of support for opposition candidate Raila Odinga.

RAB nudges up Northern Rock stake again
RAB Capital, a top investor in Northern Rock , has bought shares in the bank for the second time in two days, raising its stake to 7.5 percent ahead of a January shareholder meeting, a filing showed on Friday.
RAB and hedge fund SRM Global, the beleaguered mortgage lender's largest shareholder, had called for Northern Rock to hold an emergency shareholder meeting over its future and the bank gave in last week, setting a date of January 15.
