Crews make progress against Malibu fire
MALIBU, Calif. - Fire crews hoped mild temperatures and gentle winds Sunday would help them solidify gains against the sprawling wildfire that destroyed dozens of homes in this upscale coastal community.
Hot, powerful winds that fanned the blaze across 4,720 acres starting early Saturday were not expected Sunday, Los Angeles County Fire Inspector Ron Haralson said.

Astronauts spacewalk, finish ISS project
A pair of spacewalking astronauts wired the international space station's newest room on Saturday, crossing the last major task off their to-do list before the next shuttle mission early next month.
Commander Peggy Whitson and Daniel Tani hooked up more electrical and fluid connections linking the space station and the Harmony compartment that was delivered by the shuttle Discovery last month.

AP photographer accused of terrorist links
Associated Press photographer Bilal Hussein is pictured in Baghdad in this April 8, 2005 file photo released by the AP on November 19, 2007. The U.S. military will recommend criminal charges in Iraqi courts against the award-winning photographer it accused of working with insurgents, the Pentagon said on November 19, 2007.

Clinton starts campaign day with prayer
Hillary Rodham Clinton started a long day of campaigning by attending church, where she sang "Jesus Loves Me," "Where Children Belong" and other hymns.
Before Sunday's service at Grace United Methodist Church, the Democratic presidential candidate stood in the lobby and greeted dozens of people, shaking hands and posing for photographs. She was greeted by warm clapping during the children's service.

Giuliani keeps up spat with Romney
The back-and-forth backbiting between Republican presidential rivals Rudy Giuliani and Mitt Romney spilled over into Sunday as Giuliani contended that the former Massachusetts governor has fumbled on health care and economic matters.
Asked by a diner patron about Romney's health care program while governor, Giuliani said Romney "made a mistake" by mandating coverage for all Massachusetts residents. "When you mandate it, it ends up costing you much more money," said Giuliani, a former New York mayor.
