Brown under fire over secret donations scandal
Opposition parties stepped up attacks on Prime Minister Gordon Brown's government on Sunday, demanding to know who knew about illegal secret donations to the Labour Party.
The property developer at the centre of the scandal was reported to have alleged that 10 Labour Party officials were aware of his arrangement to give more than 600,000 pounds to the party through go-betweens.

Computers' damaging carbon trail
The digital age may have brought the world to our computer.
But our computers are making a significant impact on the world.
A medium sized server has a similar carbon footprint to an SUV achieving 15 miles to the gallon.
A thousand PCs left on all day without any power save settings will consume up to £70,000 worth of electricity per year.

Psoriasis, lupus linked to genes: study
Scientists have identified genes linked to psoriasis and lupus, diseases triggered by immune responses that cause painful inflammation, separate studies released Sunday showed.
Psoriasis affects between one and four percent of the population worldwide, with sharp variations depending on geographic region.
Symptoms include red scaly patches on the skin, called psoriatic plaques, and in about 15 percent of cases swelling of the joints.

Deutsche may abandon N.Rock bid
Deutsche Bank is threatening to abandon plans to back Virgin Group's bid for Northern Rock , according to the Sunday Telegraph.
Northern Rock last week named Richard Branson's Virgin as its preferred bidder, as Virgin said it expected to repay Northern Rock's emergency loans from the Bank of England within three years..

Coastal Areas Of UK Braced For A Battering From Storms
Strong winds have lashed the south of England, ushering in the first storms of the winter.
Parts of the south coast saw gusts approaching 75mph and a father and son needed rescuing in Devon after being swept away in a river swollen by heavy rains.
Forecasters said Monday should be a calmer day, but that the mild autumn had now given way to a seasonal chill.
