Court hears Diana's intimate letters
Extracts of intimate letters from Princess Diana to Dodi al-Fayed were read out at an inquest into her death on Friday, showing that the couple's relationship was serious and not just a holiday fling.
In one letter Diana thanks "Darling Dodi" for a holiday on his yacht, adding "This comes with all the love in the world and as always a million heartfelt thanks for bringing such joy into this chick's life."

PM Gordon Brown In Brussels For Short EU Summit

The Prime Minister moved to Brussels for one of the shortest formal European summits on record, and his first visit there as Prime Minister.
Speaking to journalists, Mr Brown insisted that the was no need to ask the public to decide how Britain and Europe work together, because the previous agreement was tweaked rather than thrown out completely.

Back-from-the-dead canoeist John Darwin and his "widow" will be spending Christmas behind bars over deception charges. The 57-year-old has been remanded in custody until January 11 by Hartlepool magistrates, along with his wife Anne, 55. Mr Darwin was first arrested after walking into a police station on December 1 and declaring: "I think I'm a missing person."

Woman Attacked By Rottweiler Dog Has Arm Amputated
A dog kennel worker who was attacked by a Rottweiler has had one arm amputated and may lose her other one.
Mandy Peynado suffered horrific injuries as she exercised the dog at Knightwood Kennels in West Grimstead, near Salisbury, Wiltshire yesterday.
The dog turned on her and sunk its teeth into her arms, police said.

Canada's Mounties say will restrict Taser use
Canada's national police force, criticized for excessive use of Tasers, said on Friday that officers would from now on only fire the electric stun guns at suspects who are combative or resisting arrest.
The Royal Canadian Mounted Police policy change was prompted by widespread outrage over the death of a Polish immigrant at the Vancouver, British Columbia, airport in October.
