Cancer hospital evacuated after fire
A fire tore through the top floor of a world-leading cancer hospital in London on Wednesday, forcing the evacuation of all staff and patients, including some who were already undergoing operations.
The top floor of the Royal Marsden Hospital in southwest London was gutted as 79 inpatients and dozens more outpatients were evacuated in near-freezing weather to neighbouring hospitals and churches.

Hundreds dead in Kenya "genocide"
President Mwai Kibaki's government accused rival Raila Odinga's party of unleashing "genocide" in Kenya on Wednesday as the death toll from tribal violence over a disputed election passed 300.
"It is becoming clear that these well-organised acts of genocide and ethnic cleansing were well planned, financed and rehearsed by Orange Democratic Movement leaders prior to the general elections," said the statement read by Lands Minister Kivutha Kibwana on behalf of his colleagues.

Tanker towed away in Channel
A 90,000-tonne tanker that ran aground in the Channel has been refloated and tugged away.
The Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) said three commercial tug boats took an hour to pull LT Cortesia off a sandbank and towed it to an anchorage in an area called The Downs, three miles off the coast of Deal.

Yard to assist Bhutto murder probe
A Scotland Yard team is to travel to Pakistan to help with the probe into Benazir Bhutto's assassination.
Prime Minister Gordon Brown agreed to send the "technical experts" following a request from Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf.
A Scotland Yard spokesman said: "We can confirm that at the request of the Pakistan government a small team of officers from the Met Counter Terrorism Command will be travelling to Pakistan to provide support and assistance in the investigation into the death of Benazir Bhutto."

Snow set to sweep in from East
Britain is braced for the first widespread snow of the winter as strong easterly winds send temperatures tumbling.
The Met Office has issued a weather warning covering almost the entire country with forecasters predicting snowfalls of up to 10-15cm in Scotland by Thursday night.
The Highways Agency has warned drivers to take care and to pack extra clothing in case of breakdowns
