Britain battered by snow and storms
Heavy snow and storms caused chaos on Britain's seas and roads Friday, with a ship's captain being airlifted from his battered vessel with serious injuries, Irish coastguard officials said.
The skipper of the Horn Cliff, a cargo ship carrying fruit from the Caribbean, sustained spinal injuries and internal bleeding as the vessel hit a force 10 storm 180 miles (290 kilometres) south of Ireland.

Condoleezza Rice plans visit to UK
US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice will visit the UK next week for talks with Foreign Secretary David Miliband, with Afghanistan, Iran and Iraq at the top of the agenda, it has been announced.
The State Department in Washington said that the trip would take place next Wednesday and would probably also take in talks with Prime Minister Gordon Brown.

Glasgow is UK's most mortgaged city
Glasgow residents owe the highest percentage in the UK of their home value to the bank.
The average home in Glasgow is mortgaged to 94.5%, and Motherwell is the most mortgaged town with up to 95% of property value still owed to the bank. Woolwich in south east London is England's most mortgaged area, with homes mortgaged up to 91%. Birmingham and Nottingham have similarly high ratios.
Experts claim the figures are leaving many home owners vulnerable to negative equity.

Teenager Stabbed In Classroom Attack
A 14-year-old boy is recovering in hospital after being stabbed three times in a classroom as his schoolmates watched. A second boy, aged 13, has been arrested following this morning's attack at Allerton Grange School in the Moortown area of Leeds. The victim was stabbed in the chest and stomach but is now said to be in a stable condition at Leeds General Infirmary.

'Victims' blood on Wright's jacket'
Blood almost certain to have come from two murdered prostitutes was found on the jacket of the man accused of killing them, a court has heard.
DNA expert Peter Hau said there was a "one in a billion" chance samples on Steve Wright's reflective coat did not belong to Paula Clennell and Annette Nicholls.
Giving evidence at Ipswich Crown Court, Dr Hau said blood found on the left shoulder of the jacket matched Miss Clennell's. And blood detected on the lower right sleeve was consistent with being Miss Nicholls', he said.
